Pastry Chef Mariah Shepherd has been decorating cakes for the past 5 years. She spent most of her time in her grandmother’s kitchen making puddings and chocolate cakes. They weren’t your ordinary chocolate cakes though; they had to have fresh cracked pecans to go along the sides of it. The older she got, the more cakes she made. She was never into taking this hobby serious until she found herself at peace with every egg she cracked and every cup of sugar she sifted.
Mariah Shepherd graduated Davenport University with her Bachelors in Health Care Administration. Immediately after, she attended Oakland Community College, graduating in 2017 with special certificates in pastry making. Prior to graduating she worked as a baker at The Brownie Gourmet. When a greater opportunity arisen she then took her talents to two new bakeries where she learned many techniques. She especially excelled at icing a cake in a short period of time. Working as part of multiple bakeries helped her shine in coordination skills. On the other hand, it helped her jump start her career. As time passed, Mariah realized what she was doing for someone else’s company; she could create on her own. That is exactly what she did!
